I’m Not Feeling It Today: Pushing Through the Tough Days

Ever have one of those days where you’re just not feeling it? I mean, you’re over the whole process—tired of all the stuff that comes with trying to be an active player in the story of your life. Ughhh, I’ve had plenty of days like that. It’s especially hard when you know you’re meant for more than where you are right now. You can feel deep down that God has called you to something bigger.

But then, when you start walking in your calling, making progress, and heading towards that “more” you’ve been hoping for, all of a sudden, it feels like the weight of everything hits you at once. You get tired. Your faith feels shaky. Your character’s being tested, and you’re frustrated because you’re not seeing the results you expected. The pressure piles up, and it’s just a lot.

So, what do you do when you feel like this? When you’re ready to throw in the towel, what can you pray for? Do you need to level up your faith? Or maybe ask God, “Is it me, Lord? Am I the villain in my own story?”

What Can You Do in Moments Like This?

  • Pray for Perspective, Not Just a Quick Fix It’s easy to ask God to get rid of the frustration and struggle, but instead of focusing on getting out of the situation, pray that God gives you the strength to go through it. Ask Him to change how you see things. Sometimes, the situation isn’t what needs to shift—it’s your mindset that needs a makeover. The Bible says in Romans 12:2 to “renew your mind” so you can see things from God’s point of view.

  • Check Your Faith James 1:2-4 reminds us that our faith gets stronger when it’s tested, which helps us grow. So if you’re not seeing what you want yet, don’t trip! Trust that God’s still working behind the scenes. Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is believing in what you can’t see. Sometimes, the best things happen when you stay faithful, even when things look rough.

  • You’re Not Alone—Look at Joseph’s Story You’re not the first person to feel this way, and you won’t be the last. Look at Joseph from the Bible. He had this big dream of greatness, but what happens? His brothers throw him into a pit, he gets sold into slavery, and then he’s locked up for something he didn’t even do! You don’t think he was frustrated or even discouraged? Of course, he was!

But Joseph stayed faithful even when it didn’t make sense, and God eventually raised him up to be the second most powerful man in Egypt. His journey wasn’t easy, but it had purpose every step of the way—even the hard parts. Don’t give up—just like Joseph, you’re being prepared for something way bigger than you realize.

  • Keep Pushing Towards Your Purpose When things get hard, and you feel like quitting, remind yourself that God didn’t call you for nothing. He’s got a purpose for your life that no challenge can cancel. Philippians 1:6 tells us that God will finish what He started in you. So even when it feels tough, keep going. Just because you don’t see the end yet doesn’t mean God’s not working. His timing is perfect, and when it’s time, everything will come together.

  • Hype Yourself Up in the Lord Sometimes you’ve got to do what David did—when everything was falling apart, he had to encourage himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6). Sometimes nobody else will hype you up, so you have to get in the Word, remind yourself of God’s promises, and speak life over your situation. Don’t wait for someone else to give you a pep talk—you’ve got everything you need in God.

Don’t Quit—God’s Got You!

I know it feels heavy right now, but don’t give up. God’s got a plan, and you’re part of it. You might not see it yet, but you can feel that pull toward something more. Follow that feeling and trust that God is moving, even when you can’t see it. Just like Joseph and David, you’ll look back and realize that these tough moments were just stepping stones to your bigger purpose.
